Health Care

    Van Andel Institute

The six-story, 165,000 square foot facility features massive concrete towers, a large column free lobby, and cascading glass roofs. It houses laboratories and support areas for 100 researchers, administrative offices and a 350-seat auditorium.

Erhardt personnel constructed the four-145 foot high cast-in-place concrete towers, and then the steel erection for the facility.

The $42 million project was tightly wedged between Bostwick Avenue (which services Spectrum Health Hospital), Michigan Street, a city park, the historic St. James Lutheran Church, and Winchester Place alley. Access to the site required very close coordination.
