Ehardt Construction was selected by Amway Corporation to serve as the general contractor for the direct seller’s new NutriliteTM Soft Gels and Tablets Plant, an $81 million nutritional products plant on Spaulding Avenue in Ada Township. The plant contributes to the company’s manufacturing and processing capacity for Nutrilite, the world’s No. 1 selling brand of vitamins and dietary supplements.
This project was a renovation of approximately 870,000 square feet of the existing facility. The renovation included the complete reconstruction of the interior into a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) manufacturing plant. The facility houses three lines each for gel tabs and tablets, as well as space for expansion for both lines in the future.
The project followed a true design-build format. Pre-construction efforts began in December 2012, with Erhardt assembling and leading the architectural, structural and MEP design teams. Construction of the structure began mid-2013 and was competed in May 2014.
Erhardt utilized the latest in design technologies through Building Information Modeling (BIM) and 3-D modeling, which allowed us to coordinate at all levels and also accelerate the aggressive timeline in order to complete construction segments on schedule.
Approximately 80 percent of the walls in the production space utilized Erhardt’s FASTRACK™ Clean Wall System to provide a sterile environment for clean rooms.
