The winners of the 2022 Annual Excellence in Construction Awards have been announced.
The Associated Builders and Contractors Western Michigan Chapter (ABC/WMC) highlighted the industry’s most innovative and high-quality individuals and companies in various award categories during a ceremony Sept. 15 at GLC Live at 20 Monroe.
“The Excellence in Construction Awards recognizes and celebrates outstanding projects, people and safety performance by ABC Western Michigan chapter members,” said Greg George, president and CEO of ABC/WMC. “It is our honor to call attention to the highest quality and innovation in merit shop construction. The 90 projects submitted this year showcase how ABC Western Michigan members continue to raise standards throughout the industry.”
Earning the 2022 Craft Professional of the Year award is Jeff Hoeks, journeyman electrician and field operations manager at Feyen Zylstra. ABC/WMC presents this award to an individual who excels in their field, demonstrates a passion for the trade, remains committed to safety, takes pride in hands-on work and uplifts the trades throughout the community.
The two finalists for the award were Tom Waldner from Lakewood Construction and Blane Lester from Kent Companies.
ABC/WMC also presented the Safety Award of Excellence General Contractor/Construction Manager to Erhardt Construction Co. and the Safety Award of Excellence Trade Contractor to HighPoint Electric. These awards are given to companies that exhibit a continued commitment to jobsite safety and incorporate these values throughout their company culture.
