ProjectsEducation – GVSU Annis Water Resource Field Station

Located on Muskegon Lake, the Annis Water Resources Field Station is home to biologists and graduate students at Grand Valley State University who perform environmental studies on Michigan’s waterways and their surrounding ecosystems.

The Field Station is a 2-story precast and steel building, equipped with laboratories, conference and briefing room, offices, break rooms, a mesocosm used for performing their experiments, and a loading bay for boat storage.

The project required demolition and disassembly of the current pre-engineered building and office space, and installation of 99 auger cast concrete piles capped with large 36-inch deep grade beams for the foundation.

The project is LEED Gold certified™ from the U.S. Green Building Council, one level higher than originally anticipated.
