WOMEN’S RESOURCE CENTER
Located in the third ward of Grand Rapids, the new Women’s Resource Center (WRC) headquarters is strategically placed on The Dash and The Rapid public transportation lines and is less than a mile from seven of WRC’s community partner organizations. This location allows WRC to empower more women by reducing transportation barriers. Additionally, with over 6,000 SF of space, the new headquarters will provide the organization with further opportunities to expand its services and offerings to the community.
Formerly a renovated historic Grand Rapids fire station, Erhardt was selected as construction manager to renovate the building into a LEED-certified, accessible business space. Renovations improved the existing space to accommodate a large training room, business center, kids’ drop-off, multiple offices, and a new reception area on the first floor. Refurbishments on the second floor included updates to existing offices, the transformation to an open office space concept, and the addition of multiple offices, a restroom, a wellness center, and a lactation room for nursing mothers. The WRC also added a new elevator for increased accessibility.
This project also entailed building an addition that includes a new vestibule and lobby, a large training room, and a business boutique where volunteers serve as personal shoppers, helping participants find the best clothing for their situation.
