    Grand Rapids City Parks Improvements

Construction began in the spring of 2105 to improve four city parks in Grand Rapids, including Cherry, Roosevelt, Westown Commons and Wilcox parks.

Updates varied from park to park. Cherry Street Park had a new splash pad installed, as well as new walkways and bike racks. Westown Commons received $384,000 in renovations, including a new skate park and picnic shelter. A new splash-pad water feature, bike racks, benches and a drinking fountain were installed at Roosevelt Park. A new restroom facility also was constructed. At Wilcox Park, the existing wading pool and old playground surfacing and slope protection were removed. A new splash-pad water feature, play surfacing and swings were installed. New fencing, benches, bike racks and a drinking fountain were added, as well.

The projects were completed September 2015.
